Play the Piano, Book 1, Part 1 & 2

Play the Piano for students from 5 to 18+ with Autism

My interactive e-books are now published and available for purchase from Amazon:

Play the Piano Book 1, part 1 & 2 are in two versions:

  1. Hyperlinks for sound icons and download of jigsaw puzzles and flashcards
  2. Hyperlinks using QR codes (paperback version)

A method designed to take the student through a visual process, focusing only, on the first seven letters of the alphabet; centering around Middle C, with the use of a guided flashcard.

This interactive e-book isn't just for children with disabilities. It's suitable for anyone who wishes to learn, but is afraid to try and lacks confidence.

This method will show them how easy it is to learn to play the piano
.
Normally, music students, who already know the alphabet, are asked what they associate with A B C D E F G, for example, A for Apple, B for Banana, et cetera.
Therefore, I have used these Fruit & Vegetable associations to represent music notes at the beginning.

I have subtly built in the concept of aural training which is often overlooked in pitch recognition.

The sound files added to each farm produce will enhance this development, maybe to improve relative pitch which is so imperative at a later stage in life for composing music, improve sight-reading skills et cetera...benefits are manifold.

People with Autism love letters, numbers, phoneme/grapheme association, picture associations, puzzles, systematic order, consistency, straight lines, predictability, illustrations, music and nature.

The advantage of using jigsaw puzzles in the classroom:

Today, a jigsaw puzzle in the classroom is more often used as a game. Of course, you can use these puzzle games to teach your students a valuable lesson as well.
That said, the biggest advantage of using jigsaw puzzles in your lesson is the possibility to combine a fun and interactive teaching method with a valuable educational lesson. Students are not just making a jigsaw, they’re learning and practising as well.

Jigsaw puzzles are the perfect way for students to practise learning material with each other. While doing so, they train their brain by thinking logically when putting all the pieces together.

Here are examples of interactivity within the books:

Some More Blogs from Jean-Paul

My Music Diary has been very successful and the page-views astounds me.

I like to introduce to my readers my venture into a different aspect of posts but with a unique twist.

In one new blog I've successfully wrote a html code to embed a flash-file unto the blog as you can't import them as easily as websites. You can now play my virtual jigsaw puzzles on a blog. Furthermore, it can be played on Apple Mac products which is a plus factor.

Please be my guest and do leave some comments. Tell me what you think about the concept. This has not been done before and it's my debut of introducing Virtual Jigsaw Puzzles with a slight twist to keep you focussed.

Read the first one in the series:

The second one the series (in my opinion the best):

The idea of the concept is revolutionary in it's approach

Four and Twenty Café

This is the first of a series of Virtual Jigsaw Puzzles
I'm creating for business and corporate companies.

The first in the series is none other than the delightful
23 Wolfe street, Chelsea Village, Wynberg:

As an introduction I like to mention the many benefits of actually putting the pieces together.

Jigsaws Can Educate, Stretch the Mind & Make a Great Gift

It's Jigsaw puzzles with a difference; it's virtual on your monitor or touch screen mobile device; no more loosing pieces, It's interactive. Many people find one of the bonuses of puzzling is that it helps keep their minds active and alert. Therapeutically stimulating

People of all ages enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles. Babies will often be given a basic wooden jigsaw as an early toy and many people come back to puzzling in later life as a hobby. This isn't just about having fun. Doing a jigsaw comes with a range of mental and physical benefits.

It's not a coincidence that the shelves in toy stores always seem to contain a lot of jigsaws for all ages of children. Most kids will enjoy doing puzzles during their childhood. They are simply fun. But, there are also a range of benefits that come with this kind of toy. They can help children develop and boost certain key skills that will be useful to them as they proceed through school and on into later life.

The Educational Benefits of Jigsaw Puzzles for Children

  • Puzzles can help develop a child's reasoning and problem solving skills. Even the simplest jigsaw will require them to think about what they do as they try to put the puzzle together.
  • Puzzles can also help a child to develop their fine motor skills when they are young. Having to pick up individual pieces and slot them into place without breaking up the bits they have already completed can be a complex task to learn. But, it can reinforce some skills that are essential to their development.
  • Putting a puzzle together will also work on the child's hand-eye co-ordination and their understanding of shapes and colours.
  • The subjects on puzzles can also be used as educational aids. An alphabet or number puzzle, for example, will be fun for the child to complete but is also a good opportunity for a parent to chat to them about letters and numbers and to reinforce learning.
  • Solving a puzzle can do wonders for a child's self-esteem. As puzzles get more challenging for them they also learn useful life skills such as seeing things through to completion and trying different approaches to problem solving.
One of the biggest benefits for children here is the fact that puzzles are fun. Many children will resist learning at home if they know it is happening. Enjoying making up a puzzle, however, could mask the fact that they are also having an educational experience.

The Benefits of Jigsaws for Adults

Although many adults get out of the habit of doing jigsaws as they grow older this remains a popular hobby for a lot of people. It is also a common pastime for people who have recently retired and who are looking for something fun to do now that they have more time on their hands. Many also believe that there are some real benefits to doing jigsaws, especially as people get older. These include:

  • Doing jigsaw puzzles can keep the mind active. Relaxing and fun as puzzles may be they will also involve the use of specific areas of the brain and a variety of mental skills. Many people find that one of the bonuses of puzzling is that it helps keep their minds active and alert.
  • Jigsaws can also be used positively from a physical perspective as people get older. Many find, for example, that doing a jigsaw regularly, even for just a few minutes a day, can be a useful way of promoting manual dexterity.
Both adults and children can enjoy doing puzzles on their own but this can be a fun social activity as well. A group of adults tackling a large and complex jigsaw can have a lot of fun!

At this moment in time we are experiencing the most incredible advancement in computer virtual interactive technology and I therefore created a virtual reality you would enjoy. The virtual jigsaw puzzles in my Projects folder of my website are only a few of my creations for both desktop and mobile devices. The puzzles can in actual fact be downloaded onto your Android, Windows or Iphone devices for an extraordinary interactive game with a difference.

No, I haven't digressed, but the subject matter of virtual jigsaw puzzles needed some airing as many people are oblivious of their existence.

Now let's get back to Four and Twenty.

Four and Twenty Café is the manifestation of a dream born at the foot of the Eiffel Tower over a box of Parisian macaroons. In the middle of a whirlwind gastronomic journey through France that cemented a timeless friendship between two soul-mates, their unwavering common purpose was crystallized to turn their Bordeaux-midnight wishes and Lyon-sidewalk hopes, into a reality.

Tracy-Leigh Genricks and Marijke Duminy:

As two classically trained Grande Diploma Cordon Bleus chefs, they are committed and passionate about producing a product that is traditional but unconventional and creating an environment that fosters the adoration of good food and the people who appreciate it.

One of their scrumptious gastronomic creations I've used to make a puzzle "virtually" for you to play on my website. Just click on the screenshot of the the following puzzle and that will link you directly to the website. Please take note that to be able to interact "virtually" you need to activate or download Adobe Flash Player for both desktop and mobile devices. For AppleMac  you need to download: AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_11_ltrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg
